The largest Conservative conference gathering — the Conservative Political Action Conference –came to a close on Sunday and with that CPAC released it’s 2024 Presidential nomination straw poll results.
It was no surprise former President Donald Trump came in with 59% of the vote. He was followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 28%.
Desantis’ 28% marks a 7% improvement from last year.

Mike Pompeo 2%
Rand Paul, Kristi Noem, Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, Mike Pence, Glenn Youngkin and Tim Scott all received 1% of the vote.
Mitt Romney, Ben Carson, Tom Cotton, Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, Josh Hawley, Chris Christie, John Kasich and Larry Hogan all registered votes, but none were higher than the .4% Mitt Romney received.
Other received 1.5% and 1.3% of poll respondents were undecided.
The poll also asked if primary were held today who would they vote for and they omitted Trump as a selection. In that poll question, DeSantis received 61.4%, Pompeo 6.3%, Donald Trump Jr. 5.9%, Ted Cruz 3.3%, Rand Paul 3.3%, Kristi Noem 3.1% and Nikki Haley 2.1%. No other candidate received over 2%.
Unsurprisingly, President Biden received a net negative 98.3% approval rating in the poll.
