CNN Legal Anaylst Jeffrey Toobin is leaving CNN.
According to The Hill:
The pundit made the announcement Friday afternoon and the news was confirmed by a CNN spokesperson soon after.
“Friends, I’ve decided that, after 20 years, I’m leaving CNN after my vacation,” Toobin wrote in a Twitter post.
“Was great to spend my last day on air with pals Wolf, Anderson and Don. Love all my former colleagues,” he added, referring to CNN stars Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon.
In a statement, a CNN spokesperson said the network is “grateful for Jeffrey’s contributions to the network over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Toobin was allegedly caught touching himself inappropriately during a workplace Zoom video conference call.
According to the Huffington Post:
Anchor Alisyn Camerota first summarized the incident that resulted in Toobin’s dismissal.
“In October, you were on a Zoom call with your colleagues from The New Yorker magazine,” Camerota said to Toobin. “Everyone took a break for several minutes, during which time you were caught masturbating on camera. You were subsequently fired from that job after 27 years of working there. And you, since then, have been on leave from CNN. Do I have all that right?”
“You got it all right. Sad to say,” replied Toobin, who had been a staff writer at The New Yorker.
However, the disturbing CNN incident is not the only behavior of concern.
According to The New York Post, Toobin had some extracurricular activity with a colleagues daughter:
Toobin, a 60-year-old longtime married dad with two adult kids by his wife, had a baby with Casey Greenfield, the daughter of one of Toobin’s then-CNN colleagues, Jeff Greenfield, in 2009, the New York Times reported.
Casey, who is 14 years younger than Toobin, met the Harvard Law School grad in the Conde Nast cafeteria while she was working as a fact-checker for Glamour magazine,
Toobin, who has been married to law school sweetheart Amy McIntosh since 1986, at first denied paternity of the baby, before tests showed he was the dad, the Times said.
Casey ended up taking Toobin to court in Manhattan over custody and financial support issues.
