Donald Trump’s efforts to reverse his loss in the 2020 election were reportedly referred by the Jan. 6 select House committee to the Department of Justice on Monday for a criminal investigation and possible prosecution.
According to the committee’s historic referral, there is enough proof to charge Trump with obstruction of justice, conspiracy to defraud the country, making knowingly and intentionally false statements to the federal government, and instigating or supporting an uprising. Trump has denied any culpability and hasn’t been charged with any crimes linked to the attack on the US Capitol.
